‘Thor’ and ‘Pirates 4’ Invade Original ‘Spidey 4’ Release Date

With the aftermath of the Spider-Man 4 debacle, several studios have taken the initiative to adjust the release dates of their own tentpoles for 2011.

Marvel, together with Paramount, has moved the release of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor up to May 6, two weeks earlier than previously announced. The Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has subsequently moved to May 20th in light of Thor‘s earlier bow. The Green Lantern has also gotten the green light today and is slated for June 17.

This is how the 2011 summer season is shaping up to be, at least as of now:

May 6 – Thor

May 20 – Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

May 27 – The Hangover 2

June 3 – Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom

June 17 – The Green Lantern

June 24 – Cars 2

July 4 – Transformers 3

July 20 – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

July 22 – The First Avenger: Captain America
